Finolex Cables has registered a turnover of Rs 315. 75 crore for the FY
2000-01 from the sales of JFTC and structured cabling. This shows a growth rate
of 28 percent as compared with the previous years’ revenue of 245.96 crore.
The total turnover of the company for the last fiscal stood at Rs 627.87 crore.
The company has been successful in consolidating its position in the co-axial,
LAN and SB cable segment, by achieving a growth of 50 percent over the fiscal
1999-00.
Finolex has sold around 508.7-tckm of JFTC during the last fiscal worth Rs
311.74 crore, growing at a rate of 8 percent. Rest of the revenue was accounted
from structured cabling, for which it has a tie-up with the US-based Leviton.
One of the significant achievements was its successful penetration in the
exports market. During the last fiscal, it bagged an export order worth Rs 90
crore for JFTC.
The JFTC facilities of the company are located at Urse, near Pune with an
installed capacity of 6,500-tckm and Verna, Goa with a capacity of 3,000-tckm.
Finolex plans to make fresh investments in its Goa plant to introduce CATV
co-axial trunk cables, which will complement its total range of co-axial
products. The company has failed to make any inroad into the Optical Fiber Cable
(OFC) market through its subsidiary Finolex Technologies Ltd, a former JV with
Lucent. The OFC plant near Pune has a production capacity of 10,000-ckm.
