Microtek registered a turnover of 46.05 crore during the year 2000-2001. It is the country’s leading modem manufacturer. The company has five manufacturing plants, three in Delhi, two in Parwanoo (HP) and one in Kundli (Haryana), each specializing in different spheres of the IT industry. It is an ISO 9002 certified company. The highlight of last year was a tie-up with Conexant for the development and manufacture of external and internal modems. Microtek launched its range of ‘smart modems’ based on conexant technology using the Rockwell chipset. It would be promoting its products to other SAARC countries.

Talks are also underway for the tie-up with Motorola for the development of modems. It is also talking to Realtek, Taiwan for LAN cards. The company plans to introduce set top boxes, routers, switches, and hubs. The company during the last fiscal, initiated several group wide quality management processes. It has an over 2500 strong dealer network with 20 branche offices, 250 distributors and over 2500 strong dealers, besides its own showrooms. It also exports its products to Italy, Germany, France, Checz, Russia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Poland, Israel and Sri Lanka. Microtek has embarked upon a Rs 25 crore restructuring and expansion drive to boost sales.

Microtek has a separate company to diversify and focus on the software exports business. The new company, Microtek Infosoft, will focus on e-commerce projects and regular software development activities, primarily, for the US market.
