Birla AT&T, the cellular service provider in the Maharashtra and Gujarat
cirlces, has posted a turn over of Rs 226.76 in the last fiscal, exhibiting a
growth rate of 106 percent as compared with Rs 110 core for the previous fiscal.
Though the company has widened its subscriber base to 208435, it is lagging
behind its competitors in the Maharashtra and Gujarat circles. In the
Maharashtra circle, its subscriber base increased from 49709 to 127656, a growth
of 156 percent. In Gujarat, the company has acquired 80779 subscribers moving up
from 36688. While approximately 59 percent of its revenues accrued from
Maharashtra, Gujarat accounted for 41 percent.
During the last fiscal, the company concentrated in extending its coverage to
areas in the Konkan belt and the Vidharbha regions in the Maharashtra circle.
Currently, this mobile service provider offers 1200 km of highway coverage
across 13 cities and 32 cities in Maharashtra. In Gujarat circle, its coverage
includes 9 cities, and 24 towns with 450 km of highway coverage. The company has
also launched a slew of value-added services by tying up with Nokia for
messaging solutions and the Pune-based iSolv for mobile chat services.
