NEW DELHI: Homegrown mobile phone manufacturer, Intex Technologies’ Chairman and Managing Director Narendra Bansal has been conferred with the Distinguished Entrepreneurship Award for the year 2016 by the PHD Chamber of Commerce at its 111th Annual Session held in New Delhi recently.
Presented by His Holiness, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the award is an acknowledgment of Bansal’s outstanding contribution in establishing a corporate brand in the country’s fast-growing mobile phone market.
Acknowledging the award, Narendra Bansal said, “I feel honored receiving this award, acknowledging this as a recognition of so many years of hard work. Intex Technologies began its journey as an IT product company in 1996 and today it is one of the leading mobile handset companies in India. I thank everyone who has been a part of this amazing journey.”
The press release said his name was selected through an all-India process undertaken by a panel of jury that included eminent names like Dr A S Anand, Former Chief Justice of India; Sudarshan Aggarwal, Former Governor of Uttarakhand and Sikkim, S Y Qureishi, Former Chief Election Commissioner of India; S C Gupta, Former CMD, Punjab National Bank and Sunil Kant Munjal, Chairman, Hero Corporate Services.
Other awards given at the annual session of the Chambers were The Good Corporate Citizen Award to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC); Outstanding Contribution to Social Welfare to Trident Limited; Outstanding Businesswoman Award to Dr Jyotsna Suri, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Hotels and the Award for Excellence in Skill Development to Jubilant Life Sciences. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to R K Saboo, Chairman of KDDL.
PHD Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards for Excellence were instituted in 1997 to recognize Indian businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals for their outstanding achievements / contributions in selected areas and for promoting corporate and individual initiatives in economic, social, educational and cultural areas.
