What is Airtel IoT?
Airtel IoT is an end-to-end platform able to connect and manage billions of devices and applications. The platform uses the telco's network to deploy NB-IoT, 2G or 4G connectivity using its e-SIM technology. Furthermore, the telco also provides a set of APIs for smooth integration across workflow tools.
Right now, Airtel IoT has over 6 million connections. Some of its clients include MG Motor, Paytm, Kirloskar, BSES, Genus, Kent, and Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited.
The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation said, "digital transformation is a key focus area for us. The implementation of smart metering infrastructure in the state is a major milestone in this journey. We needed a partner with strong capabilities and deep expertise in the space of IoT and smart utilities and Airtel ticked all the boxes for us".
The company further added that Airtel will supply 2,00,000 smart meters to deploy across the state. The distribution company will then use the telco's network to monitor real-time energy usage.
