NEW DELHI: Venkat Rama Mohan Reddy  (popularly known as BVR Mohan Reddy) has been conferred with the 4th highest civilian honor of the country – Padma Shri by the Government of India.

Reddy is founder and Executive Chairman of Cyient Limited. Mohan Reddy is a recognized thought leader in IT enabled engineering services industry globally (ITES), served this industry for more than four decades and hence rightly is among the Founding fathers of ITES industry in India.

Cyient today, ranks among top 15 Indian IT services companies , Today, Cyient has revenues of around INR 3,500+ crores (close to US$550 million). Cyient has generated cumulative export revenue of US$ 2 billion. Cyient employs approximately 14,000 engineers across 38 locations globally.

Mohan Reddy has served as Chairman, NASSCOM (The National Association of Software and Services Companies) during 2015-16 and has been engaged into various industry and government initiatives like: Make in India, Digital India, Swatch Bharat.

Recently, Mohan Reddy has been appointed as Honorary Consul of Federal Republic of Germany for states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He is the second Indian to receive this honor from the German Government.

Mohan Reddy has immense passion towards promoting education in India. Towards this, he also serves as Chairman, Board of Governors, IIT, Hyderabad since 2012. He has also been appointed as a Director on the Board of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). He is member on the Board of NIIT University, Neemrana; member of Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at IIIT Hyderabad.

Mohan Reddy strongly believes in creating positive impact to the society through use of technology. Through Cyient Foundation, Mohan has set up 54 CDCs (computer center, digital library, and NDLM centers) across Serilingampally Mandal, Telangana. These CDCs are envisioned as the digital gateway for more than 20,000 underprivileged children and will foster IT literacy in over 50,000 members of local BPL community.

The Foundation’s “Adopt a School” program currently supports 14 government schools benefitting nearly 10,000 children. Mohan is supporting Srujana Innovation Centre at LV Prasad Eye Institute providing infrastructure to support research, develop new practices, tools, capabilities in the field of Ophthalmology. Cyient Foundation trained over 4000+ students from 19 tier-2 engineering colleges to enhance their employability.

The culture of ‘innovation’ that Mohan Reddy has imbibed into his team is reflected in the products and services that Cyient offers. · Transforming NASSCOM into more inclusive and effective organization: Mohan Reddy was elected as NASSCOM chairman in 2015 and currently serves as the Past-chairman of NASSCOM. His achievements were significant: Empowerment of sectorial councils, Engagement of membership, and Inclusiveness of SMEs.

· Creating a vibrant start-up eco-system: T-Hub and Hyderabad Angels: Mohan advised Govt. of Telangana on setting up of T-Hub. T-Hub is the largest incubator in India with 220 start-ups. Mohan’s contribution has been as founding director and also liberal personal donation to the corpus. He is also the founder of Hyderabad Angels, which has grown to over 100 angel investors.

· Mohan Reddy was conferred the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by Hyderabad Management Association (HMA) in 2016, and "Entrepreneur of the Year Award" in 1996 by Hyderabad Management Association.

· Felicitated as "Distinguished Scientist" by JNTU at the AP Science Congress 2010.

· Mohan received an Honorary Doctorate (Ph.D) from the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, Honorary D.Sc. from the Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam, and Doctor of Science Honoris Causa from KL University, Vijayawada.

National:
· Mohan received "Outstanding Achievement Award" by All India Manufacturers’ Organization (2004) and "Outstanding Entrepreneur of the year" award by Ernst & Young (1999-2000).

· Received "Distinguished Alumni Award" by IIT-Kanpur in 2011 and Fellow of The Institution of Engineers-India in 2016.

· Shri Pranab Mukherjee, The Honorable President of India in his capacity as the Visitor of IIT Hyderabad, nominated Mohan Reddy as the Chairman of the Board of governors (BoG), for IIT Hyderabad in October 2012 and renominated in October 2015.

International:
· Mohan Reddy was awarded the prestigious ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Leadership Award in 2011 for outstanding leadership in advancing the use of computers in information engineering. He is also the first recipient in India and seventh globally of this prestigious award.

· Felicitated in 2008 by lndo American Chamber of commerce (IACC) for his outstanding contribution to the IT Industry. Taking this forward, under Mohan's leadership, Cyient achieved 8th lndo­American Corporate Excellence Award 2012 as the Best Indian Company Operating in the US under the Technology & Communications Category by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce

Contribution to the Field Business:
· Pioneered Engineering Design Outsourcing Industry from India; First few companies to start export of Engineering R&D services from India, especially to aerospace industry. Laid foundation of ER&D services which contributes close to $20 billion in export from India and employs more than 2 lakh engineers.

· Created a globally recognized engineering brand from India. Won many prestigious awards: Boeing Supplier of the year, Pratt & Whitney Supplier of the year, UTC supplier gold, thus creating "Engineered in India" brand.

· Chairman of ER&D Council at NASSCOM: Laid the foundation of NASSCOM's engineering services council (ER&D Forum) at NASSCOM through a range of initiatives, including instituting industry research on ER&D services. The ER&D forum's detailed research (the first in India) on the size and scope of engineering services markets globally recommended ways in which India can maximize its share in this market. This research became the baseline for Indian companies to evolve business strategies.

Contribution to the Society:
· Digital India: Mohan as Chairman of CYIENT FOUNDATION setup 54 CYIENT DIGITAL CENTERS in Govt. Schools, Serilingampally Mandal Telagana.

· Adopt a School: Supports 14 government schools benefitting nearly 10,000 children. In these schools, the girl child population is over 50 percent, drop out percentages are in single digits and pass percentages are above 80 percentage. Aligned with the Swachh Bharat program introduced by the GOI, Cyient foundation initiated the Swachh Telangana-Swachh Pathashala campaign will provide water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities in 54 government schools, impacting more than 20,000 students.
