NEW DELHI: Underlining the importance of data and the growth of internet economy, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman R.S Sharma said that today, data is new digital currency. And in this world of digital currency, network neutrality is key to the success of digitization.
He was speaking at the 11th India Digital Summit of IAMAI.
Sharma also underlined the importance of “Affordable, Ubiquitous broadband internet is key for overall success of digital India.”
Industry leaders of the digital space, speaking at the IAMAI’s 11th India Digital Summit, were unanimous in their opinion that accepting constant change and innovations will be key for survival in the digital ecosystem.
Speaking at the India Digital Summit, Sachin Bansal, Co-Founder, Flipkart, said, “With anti or rather select globalisation, there should be level playing field for homegrown startups in the internet space.” He further added, “Internet to drive service sector and we are making a huge mistake by not recognizing it as a key growth sector.”
Future of internet economy in India will be driven by data - ability to identify and use big data. According to Hitesh Oberoi, Co-Promoter, MD & CEO, Info Edge India, “The internet economy is set to grow manifold. Companies will have to navigate through challenges of huge shift and advancement of technology.”
Speakers were of the view that artificial intelligence (AI) will be driving force for internet economy in the near future.
