Dell Technologies on Tuesday notified that it will start offering solutions for communication service providers. The company has introduced the products on the 5th anniversary of its operations in India.
Dell Technologies Brings Telecom Products
Dell has introduced infrastructure and solutions, industry partners and a new innovation lab to capture the open, cloud-native telecom ecosystem.
The company cited a Gartner estimates, saying that applications at the edge will increase by 800 percent by 2024. Dennis Hoffman, senior vice president and general manager, Dell Technologies Telecom Systems Business, said, “telecom companies need ways to mitigate the risk and complexities associated with evolving their network infrastructure".
He added, “an open, cloud-native approach is the answer to quickly capture this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and move beyond the hype of 5G to the reality of a resilient next-generation network that creates more opportunities for operators, industries of all kinds and communities around the world.”
Saurabh Tewari, Director & CTO (Telecom), Dell Technologies India, said, "the new cloud-native infrastructure solutions, combined with Project Metalweaver software, will simplify and accelerate network deployments. It will also enable CSPs to easily select, autonomously deploy and manage thousands of network, compute and storage devices across locations. Additionally, our solutions are enabled with Dell EMC PowerEdge XR11 ruggedized servers, which further make operations efficient and cost-effective".
Project Metalweaver by Dell Technologies
The company has introduced a cloud-native network infrastructure foundation. Further, Dell has brought a full stack of server and software solutions as well. Dell has partnered with VMware and Red Hat to develop the said solutions.
Project Metalweaver remains Dell's flagship product out of these offerings. Dell said that it is a flexible software solution, enabling CSPs to select, deploy and manage thousands of compute, network and storage devices across multiple locations.
The company also introduced new reference architectures that complement Project Metalweaver to span telecommunications edge, core and Open RAN environments. The reference architectures provide full stack guidance, deployment options and operational recommendations for specific use cases; this will help CSPs quickly and efficiently deploy applications and services enterprises demand.
Dell has provided a plethora of core software solutions with partners such as Nokia and Affirmed. It added that CommScope RUCKUS will provide private network solutions. Furthermore, Intel Smart Edge will take care of multi-access edge computing (MEC) solutions.
What's more, Mavenir will look after the development of 5G Open RAN software with Dell EMC PowerEdge XR11 ruggedized servers. Lastly, Dell Technologies Financial Services will allow telcos to choose flexible payment options for their products and services.

Dell Technologies' New 5G Testing Lab
Along with its network solutions, Dell has also introduced its Open Telecom Ecosystem Lab. This allows the company to work with its partners to explore and collaborate on future telecom technologies and applications.
The Lab has been hosted at the headquarters in Round Rock, Texas and allows for testing solutions and services. The lab also allows Dell to create and market new products faster. Dell added that its partner program will provide the engineering resources and project management support to design, build, market and sell network solutions and services.
