Enea bring out a 5G SA Solution

Enea today announced that it is part of Telenor’s initiative to create the world’s most diverse multi-vendor 5G SA solution. This solution will include proof of concept (PoC) of a fully secure cloud-native 5G Core for network slicing.

New Partnership of Enea and Telenor in 5G

Interestingly, Norwegian Armed Forces are already running a trial of Telenor's solution. The company claims that the solution is ready for deployment and can support both high performance telecom and enterprise applications. The said trial is a pioneering use case of network slicing in action, Enea said in a statement.

Enea provided Telenor with its Unified Data Manager (UDM). The UDM can support up to 10 billion data entries at a rate of 1 to 500,000 transactions per second. Furthermore, Enea’s solution also delivers automated end-to-end encrypted communications from the core to the edge.

The UDM has built-in Subscription Concealed Identifier (SUCI) capabilities that safeguards user data. Basically, it camouflages the permanent identifier that usually accompanies a subscriber’s activity on the network.

Telenor also utilized Enea’s User Data Repository (UDR) and Authentication Server Function (AUSF). Telenor uses these features to provide best of breed 5G data management capabilities.

Enea’s solution also maximizes uptime by conducting automated end-to-end testing of the 5G Core. This automated testing ensures that applications on the network receive data seamlessly and perform efficiently.

Patrick Waldemar, VP, Telenor Research, said, “Enea’s cloud-native, vendor-neutral data management products are robust and truly innovative".

Further, he added, "Enea’s collaborative strategy resonates with our own ethos. By creating a multi-vendor environment, operators and enterprises can foster innovation, reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) and can cut time to market for new services”.

Indranil Chatterjee, CCO, Enea, commented, “the initiative provides a blueprint for both operators and enterprises to create a cloud native, best-of-breed 5G environment that, by its multi-vendor nature, eliminates vendor lock-in.”
