Extreme IX launches 2 new PoPs in Delhi-NCR, to exchange data at 200 Gbps

Extreme IX announced on Tuesday that it has added 2 new PoP in the Janakpuri and Gurugram region of Delhi-NCR. The Points of Presence will allow the Internet Exchange company to deliver better QoS to the region.

According to the company, these PoPs will allow it to exchange data at 200 Gbps. What's more, these will allow Extreme IX to allow local ISPs to extend faster and more affordable service to customers. Also, it will help the ISPs with localizing content as well. Delhi-NCR represents one of the largest concentrations of PoPs for the company. However, it has multiple PoPs in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Extreme IX said that it has been working to increase its presence across the country to address the demand. Since the pandemic, the demand for faster, more reliable internet has grown, and IXs allow for ISPs to respond to that demand. Extreme IX has been working to enable ISPs to achieve that.

On the launch, Raunak Maheshwari, Executive Director, Extreme IX, said, “we are on a mission to reduce the ever-growing digital divide in the country. The pandemic acted as an eye-opener that helped Indians understand the kind of infrastructural challenges and gaps that need to be addressed".

Maheshwari further added, "understanding and attempting to attend to these gaps, we are excited to announce the launch of 2 new Points of Presence in the Delhi-NCR region. This will help us extend affordable and faster internet capabilities to the internet service providers operating in those areas, thus ensuring easy and quick access of reliable internet to the masses".

With the launch of the new PoPs, the company now has 4 operational units in the region. These include Netmagic DC Noida, Webwerks DC Noida, Sify DC Gurgaon, and an Independent PoP in Janakpuri. In all, the company has almost 30 PoPs in 9 cities across India. In a statement, the company said that it has the largest IX presence in the country. Furthermore, the company has set a long-term goal of providing coverage across the country.
