NEW DELHI: Chinese handset maker Xiaomi's first India-manufactured phone under the 'Make in India' initiative will be launched by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Visakhapatnam today.

"Under the ‘Make in India, Made in AP’ program, will be launching Xiaomi's first India manufactured phone tomorrow in Visakhapatnam. Good news coming our way," said the Chief Minister on his social media account yesterday.

It is likely that the Chinese low-cost smartphone manufacturer company may also announce its expansion plan in India today.

The move comes after the Chief Minister had visited China three months ago, and invited Chinese investors to invest in the state.

Following the Chief Minister's visit to China. Xiaomi has come to Visakhapatnam to launch its first made-in-India smartphone and announce its plans for the country.
