Former SBI head Arundhati Bhattacharya to lead Salesforce India operations

Salesforce has appointed Arundhati Bhattacharya, the former SBI chairperson as its India CEO & chairperson. She was the first woman to lead the bank.

Salesforce has appointed Arundhati Bhattacharya, the former SBI chairperson as its India CEO and chairperson. Bhattacharya, who was the first woman to lead the bank, retired from SBI in 2017 after spending four decades in various roles is presently overseeing financial services group SWIFT India.

According to a company release, she will be joining as Salesforce India head with the mandate to helping the company scale up its India operations.

The San Francisco-based company's growth has been fuelled by businesses accelerating their digital transformation and partnering with it as their trusted digital advisor.

“She will report to Ulrik Nehammer, General Manager APAC and oversee the growth strategy of the company and play an integral role in defining Salesforce’s relationship with the ecosystem of customers, partners, and community,” the company stated.

“Arundhati is an incredible business leader and we are delighted to welcome her to Salesforce as chairperson and CEO India,” Salesforce International President and CEO Gavin Patterson said.

Salesforce provides solutions like-cloud, mobile, social, artificial intelligence, voice and blockchain enabling companies to deliver personalized, connected experiences for their customers.

The company has also invested significantly in India and expects to add 3,000 jobs across the region over the next three years, making the country its hub for global talent and innovation.

“India is an important growth market for us and a world-class innovation and talent hub and Arundhati’s leadership will guide our next phase of growth, customer success and investment in the region,” Patterson said.

Speaking on her new assignment Bhattacharya said, “Salesforce has shown that it is guided by a core set of values and a mission to do good in the world and I could not be more excited to join the team to ensure we capture this tremendous opportunity and contribute to India’s development and growth story in a meaningful way.”
