Today, Reliance Jio has announced two new offers for JioPhones, "to keep JioPhone users connected during the pandemic". This move comes as India faces a tough challenge in the COVID-19 second wave. The telco made the announcement via a press release.
New JioPhone Offers
In the statement, the telco mentions the following offers offers.
First, to the users who have not recharged during the pandemic, Reliance Jio, with with Reliance Foundation, will provide 300 free minutes of outgoing calls per month. Jio said that this will go on for the entire period of the pandemic. Reliance Jio plans to keep people connected during the entirety of the second wave of COVID-19.
The second offer is that when a person recharges their device, they will receive an additional plan of the same value for free. This move is to increase affordability and encourage people to go for recharges on their JioPhone devices. For example, a JioPhone user recharging with Rs 75 plan, will get an additional Rs 75 plan absolutely free.
Reliance Jio said that these offers were not applicable for annual plans or plans with the device bundled in.
Incidentally, Reliance Jio has sold 100 million units of JioPhone 1 and 2 and is working with Google to bring out an affordable 5G enabled smartphone to the country. The telco is also working on an affordable laptop, called JioBook.
