Telecom Secretary Aruna Sundararajan today said that full 5G road-map would be ready for India by June this year.
"We are leapfrogging in the digitization curve...and we want to bring in 5G with our global counterparts. The Indian government is working with academia, industry to bring in 5G. We are ready to handhold the industry for 5G, she said while addressing an event, Catalysing 5G Launch in India, organized by COAI.
She also said that a high-level forum on 5G, including global experts, industry experts, IITs, IISc, has already commenced work around 5G.
Talking on optic fibre, she elaborated by this year end or early next year, about 2,50,000 gram panchayats would be covered by optic fibre, paving further way to 5G.
Meanwhile, the telecom industry maintained that they have the ecosystem in place for 5G but the first step of 5G would be taken with spectrum allocation.
The 5G spectrum will only be available in the 3300 MHz and 3400 Mhz bands.
