NEW DELHI: With the much anticipated T20 World Cup, Google has launched a range of new cricket search features on the Google app. As India is the second largest market for mobile search queries after the US, these new Google app experiences will help cricket fans keep in touch with the game.
Score updates and match schedules in English and Hindi give fans a front row seat to all the games. Users, when searching for cricket score or T20 score at any point during the game, scores will automatically update — no page refreshes needed. The new search experience also includes news articles related to games, teams and players, as well as score boxes with in-depth game stats.
One can also ask the Google app about information related to the matches. For example, if the user say “Ok Google, when is the next cricket match?” it will show you the schedule of upcoming games. Or if the user asks “When will India play New Zealand?” it will tell the date and time. The only thing the Google app can’t tell its users is the winner of the match as they will have to wait for a couple of seconds until the match ends.
“Being away from the action can be frustrating, but from today you’ll never have to miss another moment with the launch of new cricket experiences on the Google app,” said Yoav Schwartzberg, Product Manager, Google Search.
