The Google Assistant can help you get things done in your world––whether it’s setting a reminder to do the laundry when you get home, looking for a recipe for dal makhani, or playing your favourite Arijit Singh playlist on YouTube. Now, your Assistant will be able to help you manage your daily routines and get multiple things done with a single command. You’ll also be able to create your own Custom Routines and schedule them for a certain time of the day or week.
To manage your Routines, just navigate to Assistant Settings > Routines and create, change, or activate a new Routine with a couple of clicks.
Make use of ready-made Routines
We’ve put together six Routines that help when you wake up in the morning, commutes to and from work, and in the evening at home. For example, say “Hey Google, I’m home” and the Assistant on your Google Home or phone can turn on the lights, share any home reminders, play your favourite music and more, all with just four words. And because routines look different for each of us, you can also easily change the ready-made Routines and add, change or delete Actions to make this work for you. |
Set up your own Custom Routine
Now, you’ll be able to create your own Custom Routine with any of the Google Assistant’s one million Actions. You can start your routine with a phrase that feels best for you. For example, you can create a Custom Routine for family dinner, and kick it off by saying "Hey Google, dinner's ready" and the Assistant can turn on your favourite music, turn off the TV, and broadcast “dinner time!” to everyone in the house.
Schedule your Custom Routines
Your Assistant can now also help schedule your regular Routines on Google Home devices. Say you want to get back into a running regimen and plan to work out three times a week. You can now create a Custom Routine (how about “Hey Google, let’s get cracking!”), and set it up to automatically start at a specific time and day of the week. You can easily schedule a Routine in the settings of your Assistant app. Very useful for forming a new habit!
