In honor of the 11th version of Android, here are 11 new things that are coming in Android 11:
  1. Switching between multiple messaging apps made easy: In Android 11, conversations across messaging apps will be moved to a dedicated space in the notifications section, making it easy to manage conversations in one spot. Users can also prioritize conversations from the key people in life ensuring important messages from key people are not lost.
  2. Bubbles makes multitasking a breeze: Responding to important conversations without having to switch back and forth between what the user was doing and the messaging app now becomes easy.
  3. Built-in screen recording is finally here: One can capture and share what’s happening on the phone. Record with sound from the mic, device, or both — and no extra app is required.
  4. Access all smart devices in one place: Simply by long-pressing the power button connected devices like the thermostat or smart lock with a tap can be controlled, so there’s no need to open multiple apps.
  5. Media controls have been redesigned and are more helpful than ever: One can now quickly switch the device to the media that is played, which means the user can take the music from the headphones to the speaker without missing a beat.
  6. Android Auto now works wirelessly for all phones running Android 11: As long as the user has a compatible vehicle users can get directions with a tap, talk to send a text, play favorite media and get help from Google Assistant.
  7. One-time permissions will allow grant single-use access to most sensitive permissions: The next time an app needs access to the sensors on Microphone, camera, and location it must ask the user for permission again.
  8. Auto-reset permissions: If the user hasn't used an app that is installed on the device in a while, the user may not want it to keep accessing the data. Android will now “auto-reset” permissions for the unused apps and notify accordingly. The user can always decide to re-grant the app permissions the next time while the app is used.
  9. Additional Google Play system update-modules: Android 11 features more security and privacy fixes that can be sent to the user's phone from Google Play, in the same way apps get updated. So these fixes will be done as soon as they’re available, without having to wait for a full OS update.
  10. For Android Enterprise users, Android 11 brings the privacy protections that a user gets on a personally-owned device to the company-owned device. The work profile gives the IT department tools to manage a device without monitoring the user's personal profile data or activity on the phone.
  11. For Pixel 2 or above usersadditional features to organize and manage their phones will now be possible, like app suggestions on the home screen based on daily routines, and new overview actions that allows one to take a screenshot of an app and select text and images, and more.
