NEW DELHI: India's Telecom Secretary and Chairman of Telecom Commission J.S. Deepak said that government is committed to support Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) primarily due to three reasons- Its size , the sector it operates in and the Critical role it had played and continue to play in the Infrastructure Telecom and Information Technology Sector in India.
While addressing the Head of Circles Conference (HOCC) conference, he laid thrust on timely completion of vital projects like NFS and National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) given to BSNL by Govt. of India. These are important from the view point of development of telecom infrastructure of this country.
He expressed his faith in the expertise of the Senior Telecom Officers in the field of project management and execution.
He also made a point to improve various quality of Service (QoS) parameters particularly “Call Drop” . There is a need of hour for BSNL for renting out cloud infrastructure and for laying emphasis on business development in addition to focusing on satisfactory provisioning and effective maintenance of telecom services to our customers.
He mentioned that though the other project, Left Wing Extremism (LWE) aiming at provisioning of GSM coverage in naxal affected areas in 10 states is progressing at a very good speed, progress in NOFN project is to be give boost. He also said that the progress of this project is also closely being reviewed/monitored at the highest level. He also said that in case if there is any issue still unresolved, it should be escalated immediately at appropriate level.
He enjoined all the Heads of the Circles to gear up to complete the assigned tasks strictly in a time bound manner.
The conference in which discussions and deliberations took place on different themes like how to improve operational efficiency in CFA & CM verticals, steps required to turnaround(+profit)in BSNL, improve sales and marketing efforts to bring youth to BSNL, convert CFA business as progressive and with positive growth and convert BSNL into a preferred telecom operator in EB market among the members of the five groups formed for the purpose. They suggested various recommendations theme by theme.
Anupam Shrivastava ,CMD, BSNL finally appreciated all the Heads of Circles for putting hard work maximum to their capacity to get the result for the organization.
He expressed his faith that we all work together, we can turn around BSNL. We can bring back BSNL to the path of glory and profitability which it had seen in the past.
Besides Telecom Seretary, BSNL CMD, Additional Telecom Secretary N.Shrisailan has also attended the conference.
Shrisailan has reviewed the progress of NOFN project state by state.
The objective of the conference was to brainstorm on vital issues concerning BSNL’s performance, its financial health and to give shape and direction to the company’s future initiatives.
In the conference, detailed discussions and deliberations took place with all the Head of Territorial and Non-Territorial circles to find out the possible implementable /executable ways so as to increase profitability of the company while fulfilling the obligations entrusted to BSNL by the Government of India.
