NEW DELHI: India’s fastest growing Internet company Hike Messenger has said that its users will be able to access Hindi News through instant messaging platform – ‘hike’.
The Hindi News will have content available in ‘bite’ size feeds across sports, entertainment, politics, technology and many more categories.
In India, 21 per cent of the internet users prefer to access Internet in Hindi in the country and circulation of vernacular publications is much higher than the mainstream publications.
With this launch, Hike will take one more step towards ‘localizing for India’ and making it an application that is user friendly for a diverse country like India.
"Users can switch between Hindi and English news by tapping a button. We believe this is a step forward as we embark on our journey to bring India online in a locally relevant way,” said Kavin Bharti Mittal, Founder and CEO, Hike Messenger.
The launch of Hindi News comes on the back of the launch of the English News platform, which already has over 1.5 million daily users viewing 100 million stories per week. Hike also announced that the news platform will soon be available in other regional Indian languages.
As per the recent industry reports (Quettra, Ericsson Mobility Report and Vserv), Hike has become one of the most frequented/used chat applications in the country by active usage and the company’s mission is to build Hike as the complete social application under one brand Hike.
