Honeywell showcases Industrial IoT at India Users Summit

MUMBAI: Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) is showcasing the latest developments in automation and process control at the Honeywell India Users Summit (August 24-25, 2015) in Mumbai, India. Honeywell is expecting more than 170 representatives from across process automation industries to attend the annual event.

HPS will showcase next-generation technologies for digital transformation, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and best-practices in process control and automation that can help manufacturers improve business performance.

The summit is focusing on issues facing manufacturers in India, including the changing economic environment, increasing connectivity and the need for real-time insights that can improve operations. Attendees to the event represent critical industries such as refining, petrochemicals, oil and gas, chemicals, power, and minerals and metals.

As organizations adapt technologies to help them take advantage of the benefits of the IIoT, the increased connectivity also brings added risk. The summit features a panel of experts from the Indian government, Honeywell and industry, who will discuss how to build cyber security skills within organizations and ways to sustain it.

India has immense potential for deriving benefits from the technology if it improves its infrastructure and skills that will help support the adoption of new technologies,” said Bruce Calder, Chief Technology Officer for HPS. “Honeywell has been leveraging the concepts and technologies behind the IIoT as part of the vision that we have been evolving towards for several years.”

Among the technologies that are being highlighted during the summit include: Honeywell Industrial Cyber Security Risk Manager – the first digital dashboard designed to proactively monitor, measure and manage cyber security risk for process control systems; Assurance 360 services – a new approach to plant maintenance that focuses on system performance and outcome; UniSim Competency Suite – the newest edition to the UniSim training family speeds operator competency through realistic training experiences, such as 3D virtual environments, for console and field operators in the process industries;  DynAMo Alarm and Operations Suite – software that leverages more than 20 years of alarm management experience in the process industries to help users reduce overall alarm count by as much as 80 percent;  and identify maintenance issues and increase visibility of critical alarms that require urgent attention.
