NEW DELHI: Now, Secunderabad and Hyderabad Railway Stations will provide free Wi-Fi services to the passengers,
Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu has flagged off the facility via video conference. Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and Lok Sabha MP K. Kavitha were also present on the occasion, reported by ANI.
The Wi-Fi service, which has been inaugurated today, will be available at 104 stations in the country.
Railways next step would be to enhance its free internet facility to over 400 stations.
Railway station are the places where the cross-section of the society is available. This initiative is part of bridging the digital divide and providing high speed access network to all rail users.
Under the partnership, RailTel is providing high speed internet, Power (with DG backup) Fiber and Switch Network across whereas Google is providing the Radio Access Network along with technology support.
This service will support the government in its initiative of cashless /digital payments.
