The recorded loss is higher in Q2 FY23 than it was in the comparable quarter last year. A loss of Rs 653.21 crore was reported by MTNL in Q2 FY22. The loss for the telecom operator has increased but so has the income.
MTNL (Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited), a government-owned telecom provider, reported a loss of Rs 737 crore for the quarter (three months) that ended in September 2022.
The recorded loss is higher in Q2 FY23 than it was in the comparable quarter last year. A loss of Rs 653.21 crore was reported by MTNL in Q2 FY22. The loss for the telecom operator has increased but so has the income.
In the second quarter, MTNL's operating revenue decreased by 23.5% to Rs 220.21 crore, as stated by a PTI report. Operating revenue was Rs 287.89 crore during the same time period last year.
At this pace, customers might soon lose all interest in the outdated mobile and internet network services services provided by MTNL. Only Mumbai and Delhi are serviced by MTNL.
The products and services provided by commercial telecom firms are just too cut-throat competitive for MTNL to compete with. The Indian government delayed the plan to merge MTNL and BSNL earlier this year. It remains for the wait whether it will take place at the same time.
