The CII said that it will organize an International Space Conference and exhibition from September 13 to October 4, 2021. It also said it will partner with ISRO, NewSpace India Limited and Antrix Corporation for the conference.
CII to Organize Space Conference with ISRO, Others
CII said that the digital conference and exhibition will have the theme 'Building NewSpace in India'. The event will aim to facilitate and strengthen industry's participation in satellites and launch vehicles manufacturing. It will also promote using space applications in various sectors.
According to CII, the conference will have digital interactions and virtual exhibitions. It will also highlight initiatives by the Indian government, such as the regulator Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre-INSPACe. The whole aim remains encouraging and engaging domestic industry in space sector and showcasing opportunities for Indian industry.
CII also said that the global space economy has been valued at $385 billion in 2020. What's more, the industry will grow to about $428 billion by 2028. These estimates come courtesy of a report by consulting firm EuroConsult.
A growing demand for space-based services, lowering of costs, miniaturisation and access to technology, liberal funding and enabling regulations around the world has fueled this growth. India, currently having 2% of share in global space business, has great potential as a source for space commerce and manufacturing.
