Reliance Jio(JIO) has put down earnest money that is 2.5 times more than that of Bharti Airtel(Airtel) and nearly 6.3 times than that of Vodafone Idea(Vi), which provides an idea of how the 5G auction is likely to play out.
Jio's deposit worth Rs 14,000 crore is almost 100 times greater than Adani Data Networks' deposit worth Rs 100 crore, suggesting that the latter will only participate in the auction for lower-priced spectrum.
Vi has submitted an EMD of Rs 2,200 crore, according to the list of Pre-qualified bidders published on the telecom department's website. Rs 5,500 crore has been contributed by Airtel.

The auction is expected to feature a total of 72 GHz of spectrum valued at nearly 4.3 lakh crore. The 5G spectrum auction is slated to begin on July 26.
