Ookla, a part of Ziff Davis (NASDAQ: ZD), a digital media and internet company, that specializes in network intelligence and connectivity insights, today released an update on the Speedtest Global Index for the month of May 2022.
According to Ookla, in the month of May, India recorded 14.28 Mbps median mobile download speeds which is slightly better than 14.19 Mbps in April 2022. With this, the country is now three notches up in its global ranking and is at 115th position. India also improved its global ranking for overall fixed median download speeds, from 76th in April to 75th in May 2022.
However, India's performance in median download speeds on fixed broadband witnessed a slight dip from 48.09 Mbps in April 2022 to 47.86 in May 2022.
According to the May Speedtest Global Index, Norway and Singapore is on the top spots for global mobile speeds and fixed broadband speeds, with a median download speed of 129.40 Mbps and 209.21 Mbps respectively. The African countries, namely Cote d'Ivore and Gabon and Congo registered the highest growth in mobile download speeds and fixed broadband speeds respectively in the month of May 2022.
