"India employs Oracle’s second largest workforce of developer and engineers, making it one of the most important product development centers across the world. The talent here and the work the teams are doing have played a very important role in helping our customers transition to the Cloud,” said Thomas Kurian, President, Product Development, Oracle. “Engineering talent is in high demand and Oracle Product Development has been recruiting very aggressively, as we aim to become the world’s #1 cloud provider. Our global development centers are the lifeline of Oracle’s success, and India is a major part of that.”

In 1994, Oracle opened its first product development center in Bengaluru with four engineers, and after that it expanded with today its sites located in Bengaluru, Hyderbad, Mumbai, NOIDA, Pune and other emerging cities.

The company has invested over $ 34 billion in continued innovation and the company claims that the investment has been the driving force in the advancement of technology.

"Our strategy is simple. There are many organizations that want to use Oracle products – there are many right here in India, but are unable to use them because they lack infrastructure. We want everyone in the world, as long as they have a web-browser, to be able to run Oracle software, without the need of a datacenter or major investments in hardware and software. We firmly believe there is a great opportunity to work with these firms and help them create a successful business path for themselves,” added Kurian.

In fiscal 2015, Oracle hired more than 2,300 engineers in product development functions in India, of which 18% were college graduates.

Oracle Cloud Strategy

Oracle recently launched the Oracle Cloud Platform, a comprehensive, integrated suite of services that the company claims makes it easier for customers to build new applications, extend existing ones, and easily move existing on-premises workloads to the cloud with no application changes. The services are designed to maximize end user experience and productivity; enable developers to manage and analyze data, rapidly develop, test and deploy applications; enable architects to quickly integrate across on-premises and cloud applications; and enable business users to drive rich business insights and enterprise collaboration.

With the Oracle Cloud Platform, customers and partners are able to take advantage of the industry-leading Oracle middleware and database software that thousands of global organizations already use to run their own businesses, all delivered via cloud. The extensive level of automation that has been engineered into the Oracle Cloud enables faster time-to-value, greater innovation, and lower cost for customers, it said.
