Orange Business Services deploys first ‘green’ state data center for HP government

NEW DELHI: Orange Business Services, the B2B division of the Orange Group, has commissioned a state-of-the-art state data center for Himachal Pradesh (H.P.) government.

This is the first state data center in the country which has been designed using ‘green’ data center concepts that minimize power requirements and increase power utilization efficiency. The cloud enabled state data center is a step forward by the state in its efforts towards IT modernization.

The data center will be managed by Orange Business Services for five years and will host approximately 200 e-governance applications ranging from land records, health management system to safe city applications.

Speaking at the inauguration of the facility, the  Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and  IT Minister  expressed for the efforts put forth by Orange Business Services for the timely completion and quality of workmanship to implement the state-of-the art data center.

Orange Business Services is also working with multiple Indian state governments to help them build and upgrade their data centers, as well as make them more efficient, and cost effective.

The state data center will facilitate all government departments to make use of common IT infrastructure facilities implemented by state IT departments. It will also enable the consolidation of services that will help the government remove complexities, cut costs and improve efficiency in delivering citizen services.
