NEW DELHI: Pokémon Go, the latest rage among the millennials has become one of the most viral mobile applications of all time. The game is now the biggest ever in the U.S. and has already surpassed Twitter in terms of daily active users.
The fans of this Augmented reality game seem to have left everything else sun-bathing in the Pokémon sea. Going by the Google Trends, it has been discovered that more people are searching for Pokémon Go on the internet than porn in the last seven days. The Google Trends graph shows that since July 7, the search for Pokémon Go has been steadily surging up and it has now become much higher than the search for porn.
“A while back when we looked at Pornhub searches for Minecraft, we discovered that the same people were already searching for Pokemon. Much like Minecraft fans, men are 62 percent more likely to search for Pokemon than women, and it is 336 percent more popular among 18-24-year-olds when compared to all other age groups,” Pornhub revealed.
While the industry has seen the rapid rise of several other mobile games in recent years – including hits like Candy Crush, Clash Royale, Minecraft, and Slither.io, for example – a new report from SurveyMonkey Intelligence indicates that Pokémon Go has claimed the title of “biggest mobile game in U.S. history.”
This is based on Pokémon Go’s peak daily active users, the firm says. On Monday, Pokémon Go saw just under 21 million daily active users in the U.S., topping Candy Crush’s rumored peak audience in 2013.
Not just this, the game is also breaking records in terms of user engagement time with the application. According to app store intelligence firm SensorTower, mobile users are now spending more time playing Pokémon Go than they are spending time in Facebook. Another remarkable feat is that the game is installed on over 10 percent of Android devices in the US.
