Qualcomm Technologies is providing customers with an end-to-end, modem-to-antenna solution to help smartphone OEMs more easily develop power-efficient 5G mobile devices.
Serving as part of the foundation of Qualcomm Technologies’ mobile leadership and innovation, the company recorded on its last fiscal quarter greater than 50% increase in RF Front End revenues on both a sequential and a year-over-year basis and it expects its opportunity to grow from $13 billion in 2019 to $18 billion by the close of 2022.
As illustrated by the above image, which can be downloaded, in the first half of 2020, leading smartphone brands such as Samsung, LG, Xiaomi, Vivo, Nubia, Sharp and OnePlus looked to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 5G Modem-RF System to support their varied RF needs in the transition to 5G.
One current example of the importance of a system approach, both with 5G modem and RFFE, is demonstrated in a recent Omdia whitepaper through a teardown of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.
