NEW DELHI: Razorpay , an online payments platform, has appointed Karan Sarin as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Karan, who most recently served as the Head of Marketing for OnePlus India, will now focus on building Razorpay's brand, nationally & globally, generating customer demand, planning strategic events and designing the company's communication strategy.

Prior to joining Razorpay, Karan Sarin was with OnePlus India, a fast-growing startup in the mobile space, disrupting the smartphone industry. He was responsible for developing and executing OnePlus’ marketing and communications strategy to support its business growth and brand awareness in India. Apart from managing brand building activities of OnePlus, Karan also overlooked all aspects of consumer marketing, hiring and was responsible for building an award-winning digital marketing team.

In the past, Karan was a Director at Flipkart, where he built their Gift Cards & B2B business from ground-up. Before that, Karan founded Perkylane, an enterprise software (SaaS) company that provided on-demand employee benefits solution to more than 30 million small and medium-sized companies in India. In a career spanning close to 14 years, Karan has had a broad set of experiences in the tech industry across marketing, sales, and various leadership roles. Earlier this year, Internet & Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) awarded Karan Sarin the 'Digital Marketer of the Year' award.
Razorpay is the second India focused company to be selected to the Y Combinator. Razorpay has been rapidly growing since its inception in 2014, with over 10,000 merchants including the likes of Videocon, Nykaa, Craftsvilla, Zerodha, NestAway, Udacity and Chai Point among others. Razorpay’s other investors include MasterCard, Tiger Global, and Matrix Partners.
