Reliance AGM 2021 on 24th June: Likely Announcements Include JioBook, 5G Network and Smartphone

On Wednesday, Reliance Industries limited announced that the Reliance AGM 2021 will take place on June 24.

The country's most valuable company is the most likely to announce its new business ventures during the meeting,. However, the most buzz is around the affordable 5G phone it is developing with Google.

Further, the company may finally announce its 5G rollout plans at the AGM as well. Further, it looks like the company might also launch an entry-level laptop called the JioBook.

The company said in a letter to the stock exchanges that the AGM will happen at 2 PM on 24 June. The company will live stream the event on JioMeet for its shareholders. Also, Reliance Industries may also live stream the event on YouTube for the general public.

Reliance Jio might Announce Plans for 5G Rollout

Amid all the buzz around potential electronics launches, the company might become the first to at least announce their plans for 5G on the 24th. Earlier, Chairman Mukesh Ambani said that Reliance Jio will launch its 5G network in the second half of 2021. What's more, the telco is conducting 5G Trials with Qualcomm and using its own tech.

An Affordable 5G Smartphone for the Masses

In July 2020, Google bought a 7.7% stake in Reliance Jio, worth Rs 33,737 crores. This deal included a plan to create an Android-based OS for affordable 4G and 5G smartphones in the future. Reliance Jio will likely call the said OS JioOS. The rumored 5G phone has been in the works for some time now. Many expected the launch to happen some time in December. So far, nothing pertaining to the specs has been revealed by either party. However, most likely, it will come with entry-level hardware with a streamlined Android experience.

And an Affordable Laptop in JioBook, Too

In March, JioBook created a lot of buzz when XDA reported leaked specs and visuals of the laptop. The low-cost laptop from Reliance Jio has the price game going for it. At just INR 9,999, or just over $136, it feels too good to be true.

However, Reliance Industries might actually launch it at their AGM. The expected specs are summarized as follows:
