NEW DELHI: Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Retail has launched 4G LTE smartphones-Wind 6 and Flame 1 under the ‘LYF’ brand in the Indian market.
"LYF Wind 6 and LYF Flame 1 come attractively priced, in the sub - Rs.7000 category and are everyone’s gateway to a Digital Life. VoLTE and VoWi-Fi features, implying Voice over Long-Term Evolution and Voice over Wi-Fi, will ensure a True 4G experience for the user when used on a VoLTE network," the company said in a statement.
"With Wind 6 and Flame 1, everyone can get HD-quality voice and video calls, multi-party voice and video conferencing, Wi-Fi calling, high-speed Internet, and seamless switching of a call from the service provider’s network to any available Wi-Fi network," claimed by company.
Both Wind 6 and Flame 1 come with Qualcomm Snapdragon Chipset and 1 GB RAM. Both the devices feature a 5MP front camera, apart from a 5MP rear camera, with special modes such as blink detection, smile detection, etc.
Flame 1 is designed for allowing ‘perfect selfies every time’. The front camera is also slated to make for a great video calling experience. It is available in four vibrant colours – white, black, dark blue, and dark red.
Wind 6 has a 5-inch IPS Display, 1 GB RAM, Premium gloss finish, compact design, and is designed to suit all your communication needs. It is available in white, black, and gold colours.
A week ago, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) Chairman and Managing Director Ambani said that Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) would be ready to commercially launch its much talked about the fourth generation (4G) telecom services in second half of 2016, offering 80 per cent of Indians high-speed mobile internet, as well as voice services.
Two months ago, Ambani-led RJIL had launhced a 4G service for its employees, The launch was held at Reliance Corporate Park in Mumbai, while RIL other employees were virtually connected at around 1000 locations including Dallas in the US.
“We’ll be ready to launch in the second half of 2016. Eighty per cent of India’s population will have high-speed, mobile broadband internet. So, 80 per cent of the 1.3 billion Indians will have high-speed, mobile internet. And 2017, we would cover 90 per cent. By 2018, all of India would be covered by this digital infrastructure,” he told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria in an interview.
Telecom arm of RIL, RJIL’s 4G services are currently available to roughly 120,000 employees, their families and business partners.
The company has invested close to USD 15 billion in the telecom venture so far. RJIL is the first telecom operator to hold pan India Unified License. It holds the highest amount of liberalised spectrum among telecom operators totaling to 751.1MHz across the 800MHz, 1800MHz and 2300MHz bands.
