The telecom arm of Mukesh Ambani-led RIL, Reliance Jio is all set to foray into the cable MSO (Multi-System Operator) business.
Media reports quoting sources said: "Reliance Jio has recently applied for a pan India Cable MSO license and it is expected that the company will receive a pan India MSO license in FY 2014-15."
Reliance Jio will be rolling out its 4G services this year, the company is the only telco to have pan-India Broadband Wireless Access spectrum which is used for 4G services.
Last year, RIL announced that it would be pumping in Rs 70,000 crore for rolling out 4G services.
Recently, Reliance Jio's services by the name of Jionet was soft launched during Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Gandhinagar.
The 4G services will cover about 5,000 towns and cities accounting for over 90 percent of urban India, as well as over 215,000 villages in India.
