NEW DELHI: State Bank of India (SBI) has been at the forefront to provide all the support it can to Prime Minister’s demonetization scheme to help the country go digital. In its latest initiative, the bank has now launched its own e-commerce platform, on its mobile app.
E-STORE is a platform within the mobile app, which enables cardholders to make purchases from partner merchants in a seamless manner while availing exclusive offers and benefits.
SBI Card has partnered with Goibibo as its first online merchant on E-STORE. The platform will soon be expanded to offer consumers access to a variety of e-commerce merchants.
“The current environment in India is clearly indicative that digital payments are the way forward. The need of the day is to make digital transactions as convenient, safe and rewarding as possible for consumers. The introduction of the E-STORE platform on our mobile app is a step in this direction, said Vijay Jasuja, CEO, SBI Card.
“We have been witnessing a consistent increase in our customers’ interactions with us through the mobile app. Consumers are increasingly turning to mobile apps for everyday tasks. Now, in addition to existing services, cardholders can also transact directly on our mobile app while enjoying substantial savings through rewards and discounts. While we have started with travel category, we are in talks with various online merchants and are looking to partner with sellers in different categories,” he added.
SBI Card has been investing heavily in technology. Earlier this year the company had launched an upgraded 3.0 version of its mobile app with superior functionalities.
Apart from the savings proposition, E-STORE also offers a high level of convenience in transacting. Customers are only required to input their CVV to validate transactions since card details are already integrated with the app.
