NEW DELHI: India’s online shopping portal ShopClues has given a facelift to its mobile shopping experience by launching an Image Search Tool on its Android app. With the visual recognition technology, ShopClues believes that this launch is all set to completely disrupt the way m-commerce in India functions by bundling in the best aspects of the offline shopping experience.
The release indicated that the ShopClues’ Image Search Tool enables advanced visual recognition of a certain product and shows up more options that are similar in terms of colour, style, pattern, design, material etc. It emulates the brick-and-mortar experience where customers often ask shopkeepers to show different variants of and more products like the one on display. The visual recognition feature has been implemented across all relevant categories and ensures a more enhanced virtual buying experience like never before.
Speaking on the launch of the feature, Gyanesh Sharma, AVP – Engineering, ShopClues said, “The Image Search Tool on ShopClues has already found healthy traction. Across all the e-commerce marketplaces, our technology and its results are clearly unsurpassed. Given the good response, we will be investing further in visual technologies to make the discovery of the right products faster and more effective.”
After the introduction of the Image Search Tool, ShopClues will also look at building more on its artificial intelligence and machine learning components. The overarching goal of the company is to ensure that the app intuitively learns about the shopping preferences of users and the more they shop on it, the better their experience is. The company is also looking at leveraging technology that makes the app capable of giving different weights to different parameters for a more comprehensive product search and discovery.
