Spirent Communications today announced a collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring automated 5G testing for communications service providers (CSPs) building 5G networks on AWS. Spirent’s Landslide 5GC Automation Package will help carriers to deploy 5G networks on AWS. The company is looking to help telcos significantly reduce operational costs, time, and resources compared to manual testing.

Spirent Collabs with AWS

The IT company has combines AWS’s CI/CD pipeline with its 5G test capabilities. The solution will provide CSPs capability to continuously test network functions and services across a range of requirements. These include compliance, capacity, and performance. Spirent said that it is targeting the solution at those CSPs that are looking to deliver 5G on AWS.

Operators can use Spirent’s Landslide 5GC Automation Package with 5G Network Validation on AWS to leverage the fully integrated 5G test automation capabilities. Then, the telcos can use that to rapidly test and validate network deployments and updates.

The solution provides a continuous delivery framework using AWS CodePipeline. Also, the solution is available in all AWS Regions, along with its security and observability best practices. Spirent further said that its solution is fully decoupled and highly scalable. That allows it to support many parallel tests of many types. What's more, these tests are capable of triggering automatically as part of the 5G Network application pipeline.

Doug Roberts, GM, Lifecycle Service Assurance, Spirent, said, "thanks to our new collaboration with AWS, service providers can leverage Spirent’s 5G expertise and proven test methodologies to easily incorporate automated 5G testing and validation on AWS, reducing months to minutes".

CSPs can simply trigger the tests and complete validation with no additional need for manual testing. It can also reduce the risk of service failure by testing multi-vendor 5G core elements and accelerate test automation without the need to construct from scratch.
