NEW DELHI: Gurugram located mobile technology company, U2opia Mobile has partnered with Etisalat, one of the leading telecom operators in Nigeria, to launch its sponsored data suite, FonePass in the market.

FonePass is a data solutions suite that offers a slew of products catering to enterprise and consumer needs. The partnership offers subscribers to find free data offerings on various and most popular ecommerce, online classified and taxi apps in the region.

DataPass, the enterprise rewards platform under FonePass provides brands and IoT providers in these regions with solutions that allow them to increase visibility and engagement around their products and services. DataPass provides data packs to brands in order to gratify their end consumers with free data. On the other hand, operators can benefit from increased partnership opportunities with publishers and advertisers to open up entirely new sources of alternate revenue and also enables their subscribers greater value while monetizing its mobile data network.

Nigeria has an internet penetration of 46 percent with total subscribers reaching to 93.5 million as of August 2016, according to a report released by NCC. With nearly half of the population still waiting to grasp the internet bandwagon, there is an emphasis on solutions which will boost connectivity and reach in the country.
