New Update
Voice of Indian Communication Technology Enterprises (VoICE) shared its reaction to the TRAI 5G recommendations. VoICE is a new Society working on AatmaNirbharta in Telecom Sector with participation restricted only to Indian registered companies with Indian R&D, IPR and designs.
VOICE had shared its views related to Private Cellular Networks and issue of spectrum being earmarked for localised private captive networks in India.
TRAI Recommendations on auction of 5G spectrum issued on 11th April 2022 if accepted and implemented in coming weeks should be a very positive development for Private Mobile Networks (including 5G), said R.K. Bhatnagar, Director General VOICE.
VoICE has raised the issue of 5G Ecosystem, R&D, Consortium based 5G Alliances after the success of 4G consortiums. In multiple Inter-Ministerial meetings with the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Mining etc., we have brought to the notice of everyone in Government, the importance of private 5G networks and how consortiums can deliver the results in 15 to 18 months while remote locations like defense, mining, remote industrial sites, deep-sea oil exploration, naval ships etc would not get the desired results for next 5 years or so from licensed service providers.
Our communications to the Government and even to CP, TRAI have seen some positive results. TRAI has also taken note of our submissions. I find TRAI Recommendations to be a game-changer and there is every possibility that we will have multiple players by the end of 2023 who will be having Captive Wireless Private Network (CWPN) permission/license and their proven Proof of Concept will be handy for even licensed service providers.
